METHODS FOR WORKING WITH YOUNG PEOPLE
TO ENSURE LEARNING PROCESS RESILIENCE
In August of this year, six different educational institutions from three Baltic countries started implementing the Nordplus project “Methods for working with young people to ensure learning process resilience” with aim to contribute to the development of schools through partnerships, as well as to provide the opportunity to share staff experience and strengthen their professionalism and work skills.
Three key aspects that show that the emotional well-being of adolescents and young adults during the pandemic was a pressing issue around the world are:
- As known that movement and exercise help a person as a biological being to process emotions and cope with stress. Sitting at the computer, anxiety accumulates and in the end it all results in depression, aggression.
- The second reason is polluted air in cities, unhealthy food.
- Third, socializing was prohibited during the pandemic. Because it is very important for a teenager to have peers and contact with other adults. If this is not done, his/her development and mental health are affected.
Thus, the goals of this project are:
- To identify the emotional state of school (general, vocational, interest) young people and the impact of Covid-19 on young people's mental health;
- Upgrade staff to provide qualified support to young people to improve their emotional wellbeing in the context of Covid-19 mitigation;
- Identify and summarize methods of working with young people that contribute to reducing the effects of Covid-19 and increasing their emotional well-being and mental health.
To achieve these goals, within the project a study will carry out on the emotional health of school young people and the impact of Covid-19, as well as increased the professional competencies of the staff involved in working with young people, providing an opportunity to share knowledge and experience and share their practice during mobility.
The main outcome of the project - a collaboration network between the different schools to exchange experiences and to create new innovative educational products related young people emotional well-being.
Main result: increased professional competence of employees and promotion of working methods with young people at school development aimed at improving the mental health of young people by providing a better emotional background and encouraging Covid-19 effects.
